Welcome to Week 35 of The 52 Week Love Project – Acts of Kindness. The project designed to recognize 52 inspiring humans who are giving back to our community – whether in a small way or by creating a movement for change and inspiration.

The project showcase’s LOVE at it’s finest, share their stories – what they do and why they do it!  It’s an opportunity for us to find out what inspires them and what keeps them going when challenges or self-doubt assail them.

Imagine if your goal was simply: Everyone and anyone! Sharing random acts of kindness where ever you go! This weeks 52-week love project is about Nora – who’s business is to make a difference where ever she goes!

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

I had a belief that I wasn’t giving enough, that in order to make more money I had to give more money, this scared me as I didn’t trust that I would it work. So I just had to try it out for myself.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

There are several things I do every week, they all stem from a question I ask myself every day;

“Whose day can I make today?”

I begin each day with that question to myself and then decide on little acts of kindness I can do throughout the day to people.

This can include:

  • Paying someone’s bill at a café for them (without them knowing)
  • Giving money to the grocer so he can give it to the next person and they can do whatever they want with it.
  • Put money into little envelopes with a letter of affirmations and leaving them randomly in varying locations e.g. inside books, on café tables, on car or scooter mirrors for the owners to find them…
  • I tip extra, more than I would ever
  • I hug random people, talk to random people just to say hello.
  • I compliment people for no reason, yes, even strangers!

Every day it may be different, but the one thing I do every month is to leave money with affirmations wherever I go!

WHAT INSPIRED YOU?

I had read about spiritual ‘tithing’ from Gabrielle Bernstein in one of her books many years ago, I think it was ‘Add more ~ing into your life”, but then I promptly forgot about it.

Recently I also read “Happy Money” by Laina Beunostar (very short book) where she talks about giving little presents away, and this is what I started doing in my life now too!

Ultimately what inspired me is the idea of the woman I want to be. I want to be kind, compassionate, generous, confident, friendly and a woman people want to be around.

Therefore I knew I had to change some of my actions in order to start to embody who I want to be, right here, right now.

HOW DO YOU GET PAST SELF DOUBT?

Because what I do is secretive (for the most part), I get such joy out of thinking about the person or people who will receive my little kindness gifts… I imagine them smiling thinking who the hell put this there, or who in the world paid for my bill!?

The thought that they are positively affected and maybe just maybe what they received as a result of my actions truly made their day – that in itself eradicates all self-doubt.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE/CHANGE IN THE WORLD?

Start to think about the person you want to become.

  • What are they doing?
  • What are their qualities?
  • How are they showing up in this world?

Then consider small actions YOU can take right NOW that will embody the answers to the questions above.

For example, if you want to give more to charity but feel you can’t, what is a small action you can take that will start you on that path? Maybe donating one item of clothing a month to begin with, perhaps it’s an hour of your time or other tiny small things that will get you going…

DO YOU HAVE A QUOTE OR EXPRESSION THAT YOU LIVE BY?

One of my favourite quotes is;

“If not now, then when?”

I love this because I tend to put things off, “I’ll do it later”, “not now I am busy…” but I learnt that SOMEDAY is actually NO DAY. It’s now or now or now or now. Do it now or then don’t do it.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?

I mentor women to empower them to lead sensual, fulfilling lives filled with intimacy, joy and belonging.

I do this through online 1-1 mentoring, group programs and artfully nude photoshoots all out of Bali where I am based.
